Anastasia’s Perfect Brow
Looking well-groomed starts at one place and one place only—your eyebrows! They are the “blueprint” to your whole face that gets people noticing those big round eyes you have gazing back at them. Now is the time to turn your attention to your eyebrows for once. Your eyebrows can attest to the fact that it gets tiring being in the spotlight all day. The methods to achieving the perfectly shaped brow must be a choice of personal preference, comfort, cost, and end result. When it comes to brows, my beauty philosophy is that daily upkeep and getting groomed is key.
Dare to Daily Care
Daily upkeep at home can be fun with all the products out there on the market. My favorites? Well, after getting to know the founder of Anastasia.net, that’s an easy choice. Founder, Anastasia, started doing eyebrows for celebrities like Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, and Stephanie Seymour in the 1990’s before eyebrow care was even available. Now, her site offers all of her exclusive products for keeping your brows at a celebrity status—from home! Personally tested by Anastasia herself at her Beverly Hills Salon are: The 5- Element Brow kit and the Brow
The 5-Element Brow Kit is a bestseller item, which has all the essential brow products in one convenient starter kit. It includes precision tweezers, brow stencils (five different shapes), brow powder, a mini brush, and Anastasia’s best-selling clear brow gel that tames unruly brows. This is the all around best “at home” kit for your brows to keep them gorgeous between trips to the beauty salon.
One of the most common brow mistakes that women make are eyebrows that do not match their hair color. Anastasia recommends that one shade darker than hair color is ideal. This is especially important for light haired women. It just so happens that, the Brow Wiz does just that! It fills in sparsely tweezed eyebrows using its ultra fine pencil tip with natural color.
Go Get Groomed
The goal of grooming your brows is to add balance, and proportion to your face. Waxing is one method of depilation found at many beauty salons, which removes body hair from under skin level. This method involves applying wax to the desired area, allowing it to cool, then peeling it off in the same direction as hair growth and with muslin paper. I find waxing to be much quicker than plucking one hair at a time. Although, I’ve found that it is not for everyone. It can cause irritation and even allergic reactions caused from chemicals in the wax. Waxing historically has created the jaw-dropping arch in the center of the brow, and is the preference of the majority of women.
Threading is known as “the ancient art of hair removal”, and ironically is the newest trend in shaping your brow. This involves 100% cotton threads that are twisted and rolled around the eyebrow, then sharply pulled to get out the unwanted hairs. The threads are the only tools touching your epidermis, making it extremely sanitary. This method is given preference when looking to thin out a bushy eyebrow or to gain a straighter shape. In addition, it is not as harsh as wax, which removes the first layer of skin. The ouch-factor for this is related to the discomfort felt when tweezing—but much quicker. With all the choices out there in shaping your brow, you will be left asking yourself, “to thread or not to thread?”
Now that you know the secrets behind celebrity looking eyebrows, you have nothing to stop you from getting the perfect brow. Whether you’re using waxing, threading, or even tattoos! Shaping your brow is the key to that easy, effortless beauty.
